Windows 2000 Server Architecture and Planning, 2nd Ed.
Written by the author of the successful first edition of Windows 2000 Server Architecture and Planning (ISBN: 1-57610-436-2) and the highly acclaimed NT5: the Next Revolution (ISBN: 1-57610-288-2). Unlike other books on the shelf, this revision of the book includes vital information based on product changes available in the Windows 2000 Server service pack (to be released after the initial release of the Windows 2000 Server.) Includes information on the latest Windows 2000 functionality and utilities that will ease software deployment and upgrades, and help manage a network of desktops and servers. (q2960)

Absolutely superb - a fantastic pre-design read that introduces the concepts and ideas of AD in an easy to understand and read format. Before I read this, I was struggling to understand the concept of a "distributed directory" and all the other buzzwords that Microsoft were firing out with total abandon.... but this book made sense of the jargon and made it simple to understand what they were talking about. All in all, a superb read - if only I'd found it here for $30 instead of the £40 (UK Sterling) I paid 2 years ago!!
